CONTACT CONGRESS -- AND WIN A
DAWKINS DVD FOR DOING A GOOD DEED

Thursday Night Press Conference!)
Protest the National Day of Prayer -- and help us defeat a proposed Federal "Religious Heritage Week" scheme.
Tomorrow, Thursday May 7, is the official National Day of Prayer. It will also mark a new campaign to have Congress declare "America's Religious Heritage Week" (see the details in the News section of our web site, http://www.atheists.org) .
ALL ATHEISTS, FREETHINKERS, HUMANISTS and other secularists are invited to our press conference Thursday, May 7, 2009 beginning at 7:00 PM at the American Atheist Center, 225 Cristiani St. in Cranford, NJ (908-276-7300) . Communications Director Dave Silverman will be on hand to discuss this proposed legislation. We are encouraging everyone to contact Congress now -- so check out our Action Alert section on the web site.
AND WE'RE HAVING A CONTEST!
The prize is a free Richard Dawkins DVD, "A Brief History of Disbelief" which will be mailed to the top two people who:
* Complete one of the actions in our earlier Action Alert. Call or write your congressional representative, or write a letter-to-the-editor of your local paper. We'll take your word for it if you did it, but it IS a requirement!
* Give the best example (first prize) or the MOST examples (second prize) of the negative impact religion has had on American history. We're not doing this to be negative, we're doing this because the "Dobson Bill" proclaiming a Federal celebration of religion is one-sided. True education should show both sides of an issue! We need to balance and examine the claims made in this proposed legislation, all in the name of education and truth. So, give us lots of education and truth!
The time for this contest is short -- two days! The deadline is May 7, 2009 AT 5:00 PM ET Dave will announce the winners at the press conference, and their submissions will be read.
